Sarah's Story

Lifelong commitment to service

Sarah Leonardi is a former teacher and the School Board member for Broward County Public Schools District 3. She has nearly a decade of teaching experience, primarily teaching English in Broward’s public high schools. She was voted Teacher of the Year at Coconut Creek High School in 2016 and sponsored several student clubs during her time as a teacher. During her tenure on the Broward School Board, she has been an advocate for student voices, fought to protect academic freedom, secured tens of millions of dollars in funding to improve the facilities at schools in District 3, and worked to enact policies to make our schools safer.

Ms. Leonardi grew up in the Middle East, living six years in Cairo, Egypt, and nine years in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As the daughter of a teacher, she was raised to truly believe in the power of education in changing lives. She moved back to the United States to attend the University of Miami, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education in 2011. Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter in Pompano Beach, where they've made their home.
